【教学内容】

六年级上册Unit 8 Chinese New Year(课外阅读)

【教学目标】

1. 语言知识

(1)通过整体阅读、细节品读、分享体验等方式理解并掌握故事。

       (2)在故事中学习,通过根据图片、上下文猜测词义等方式听懂、会说、会读单词:spot, drummer, acrobats, amazing, lantern。

(3)学生能够运用句型:They eat … /They hear … /They see … 描述故事细节。

2. 语言技能

(1)通过浏览、细读、寻读等活动,学会有步骤地阅读。

(2)能在教师的指导下,通过小组合作学习、自主学习等多种方式理清故事脉络,掌握制作思维导图的策略,并尝试复述。

3. 情感态度

        (1)能够在阅读过程中体验到阅读的乐趣,喜爱阅读英语故事。

        (2)学会了解中国最大的传统节日的风俗习惯,并在此过程中感受到节日带来的乐趣。

【教学重点】

  通过整体阅读、细节品读、分享体验等方式理解并掌握故事。

【教学难点】

  能在教师的指导下,通过小组合作学习、自主学习等多种方式理清故事脉络,掌握制作思维导图的策略,并尝试复述。

【教学过程】

Step 1. Preparation

1. A game: Word bomb

Say the first thing comes to your mind quickly.

Key words: teacher, your new teacher, festivals, Chinese New Year.

2. Try to ask

T: You did a good job. Chinese New Year is my favorite festival. And I have a lot of plans about the coming Chinese New Year. Do you want to know? Please ask me some questions.

(1) A: What are your going to do?

      B: I’m going to buy a lot of things and eat dumplings.

(2) A: What are you going to eat?

      B: I’m going to eat some fish, dumplings and sunflower seeds.

      T: Oh, here’s a new phrase, please read after me. Sunflower seeds.

(3) A: What place are you going to visit?

      B: I’m going to visit Tianding Square and Ziwei Park.

(4) Look at the cover, let the students ask some questions about it.

Step 2. Presentation and practice

1. Watch and answer

Watch the beginning part of the story and answer two questions.

Q1: Where is Lucy’s family going?

Q2: Are they going to see a parade? (Learn the new word: parade)

2. Try to imagine

What will they see in the parade?

3. Scan and find

(1) Read P1-8 quickly and tick the pictures.

(2) Learn the new words: drummer, acrobats, lantern.

4. Read and match

Read the words again and match the pictures.

5. Read in detail

Read the pictures one by one.

6. Watch and make

Watch the whole story and make the thinking map in group.

Step 3. Production

1. Try to retell the story.

2. Find and share.

Find the adjectives in this story and share the feelings of Chinese New Year.

Step 4. Progress

    Watch a video and know more about Chinese New Year.

Step 5. Homework

1. Make your own thinking map about Chinese New Year.

2. Watch BBC documentary on Chinese New Year.
