<Korean Language has 14 basic consonants and 10 pure vowels. But there are also 5 double consononants and 11 

compound vowels.>

# How to Pronounce?

1. Vowels
ㅏ /a/ㅓ /eo/ㅗ /o/ㅜ /u/ㅡ /eu/ㅣ /i/ㅐ /ae/ㅔ /e/
ㅑ /ya/ㅕ /yeo/ㅛ /yo/ㅠ /yu/  ㅒ /yae/ㅖ /ye/
ㅘ /wa/ㅙ /wae/ㅝ /wo/ㅞ /we/ㅚ /oe/ㅟ /wi/ㅢ /ui/ 


2. Consonants 
ㄱ - It’s read as /gi-yeok/. When we combine this with the vowels, we have:
가 - sound like "gar" in "gargle" 
거 - sound like "gir" in "girl" 
고 - sound like "go" in "gore" 
구 - sound like "goo" in "goose" 
그 - sound like " goo" in "good" 
기 - sound like "gi" in "give" 
게 - sound like "ge" in "get" 
개 - sound like "ga" in "gag" 

ㄴ - It’s read as /ni-eun/. When we combine this with the vowels, we have:
나 - - sound like "nar" in "narcotic" 
너 - sound like "ner" in "nerve" 
노 - sound like "no" in "note" 
누 - sound like "noo" in "noose" 
느 - sound like "noo" in "nook" 
니 - sound like "knee" 
네 - sound like "ne" in "negative" 
내 - sound like "na" in "natty" 

ㄷ - It’s read as /di-geut/. When we combine this with the vowels, we have:
다 - sound like "dar" in "darn" 
더 - sound like "dir" in "dirt" 
도 - sound like "do" in "dog" 
두 - sound like "do" 
드 - *can’t be found in English
디 - sound like "di" in "disk" 
데 - sound like "de" in "dedicate" 
대 - sound like "da" in "daddy" 

ㄹ - It’s read as /ri-eul/. When we combine this with the vowels, we have:
라 - sound like "ra" in "rather" 
러 - sound like "ru" in "Russia" 
로 - sound like "ro" in "robe" 
루 - sound like "roo" in "rooster" 
르 - *can’t be found in English
리 - sound like "ri" in "ring" 
레 - sound like "re" in "revel" 
래 - sound like "ra" in "rat"

ㅁ - It’s read as /mi-eum/. When we combine this with the vowels, we have:
마 - sound like "mar" in "market" 
머 - sound like "mer" in "merchant" 
모 - sound like "mo" in "mall" 
무 - sound like " moo" in "mood" 
므 - *can’t be found in English
미 - sound like "me" 
메 - sound like "me" in "met" 
매 - sound like "ma" in "man"

ㅂ - It’s read as /bi-eub/. When we combine this with the vowels, we have:
바 - sound like "bar" 
버 - sound like "bir" in "birth" 
보 - sound like "bo" in "bore" 
부 - sound like "boo" 
브 - sound like "boo" in "book" 
비 - sound like "be" 
베 - sound like "be" in "best" 
배 - sound like "ba" in "bat" 
ㅅ - It’s read as /si-yot/. When we combine this with the vowels, we have:

사 - sound like "sar" in "sardine" 
서 - sound like "sur" in "surf" 
소 - sound like "so" in "soul" 
수 - sound like "soo" in "soothe" 
스 - *can’t be found in English
시 - sound like "ci" in "city" 
세 - sound like "se" in "send" 
새 - sound like "sa" in "sand" 

아 - It’s read as /i-eung/.
The vowels are not written alone. So,when there is no initial consonant at te beginning of syllables, 

the ㅇ is always written; The ㅇ has no sound value.

ㅈ - It’s read as /ji-eut/. When we combine this with the vowels, we have:
자 - sound like "jar" 
저 - sound like "jer" in "jerk" 
조 - sound like "joe" 
주 - sound like "jui" in "juice" 
즈 - *can’t be found in English
지 - sound like "ji" in "jig" 
제 - sound like "je" in "jelly" 
재 - sound like "ja" in "jam" 

ㅊ /chi-eut/, ㅋ /ki-eok/, ㅌ /ti-geut/, ㅍ /pi-eub/ - are from ㅈ, ㄱ, ㄷ, ㅂ 
The pronounce ㅊ and ㅈ have a difference with ’ch’ and ’j’ (eg. 차 /cha/, 자 /ja/)
The pronounce ㅋ and ㄱ have a difference with ’k’ and ’g’ (eg. 카 /ka/, 가 /ga/)
The pronounce ㅌ and ㄷ have a difference with ’t’ and ’d’ (eg. 타 /ta/, 다 /da/)
The pronounce ㅍ and ㅂ have a difference with ’p’ and ’b’ (eg. 파 /pa/, 바 /ba/)

ㅎ - It’s read as /hi-eung/. It is pronounced /h/ as in the English word "hike."
