1. used to do sth. 表示“过去常常……”，指过去有但现在已经不存在的情况或习惯，可与各种人称的单、复数形式连用，后接动词原形。例如：

When I was in the countryside, I used to get up at five o’clock.

2. be used to+n./doing sth 表示“习惯于……”，其中to是介词，后接名词或动名词。be可以有各种时态的变化形式,有时也可用get，become，grow等词替代，表示由不习惯变为习惯。例如：
Americans are used to drinking coffee after dinner.
美国人习惯在饭后喝咖啡。
I have got used to the country life.
我已经习惯了农村生活。
You will be used to the work in a short time.
你不久就会习惯这个工作。
I am used to staying up late at night.
我习惯熬夜。
You’ll soon be / get / become / grow used to our way of living.
你很快就会习惯我们的生活方式。
3. be used to do sth. 表示“……被用来干某事”，是use ... to do sth.“用……做某事”的被动形式。试比较下面一组句子。
A knife is used to cut bread. （被动形式）
I use a knife to cut bread. （主动形式）
4. be used for + n./doing sth. 表示“……被用来做某事”，其中for为介词，后接名词或动名词，与be used to do sth.同义。例如：
─What do you use this tool for？
─It is used for cutting hair. = It is used to cut hair.
你用这个工具干什么？
这个工具是用来剪头发的。
Knives can be used for cutting things. =Knives can be used to cut things.
刀能用来切东西。
5. be used as + n.表示“被作为……使用”。例如：
This room is used as our classroom.
这个房间被用作我们的教室。
The box can be used as a table.
这箱子可以用来当桌子。
6. be used by + sb. 表示“……被某人使用”。例如：
This reading-room is only used by teachers.
这是仅供教师使用的阅览室。
The recorder was used by several teachers.
这台录音机被几个老师用过。
