| 易混淆的比较级词组辨析 |

比较级的使用在实际运用中是非常普遍的，但有些比较级词组结构相同或相似， 表示的意义却大不相同。现将几组词组在意义和用法上加以比较说明。
1. no more than / not more than
no more than表示“仅仅，只”，有嫌少的意思； not more than表示“至多，不超过”，是一种客观叙述。
They have designed no more than six kinds of cars. 他们只设计了6款车。
He has not more than fifty yuan in his pocket. 他口袋里最多只有50块钱。
2. no more... than / not more... than
no more than表示“和……一样不，正如……不……”； not more than表示“与其说是（前者），倒不如说是（后者）”，实际是否定前者，肯定后者。
He is no more interested in popular music than his younger brother.他和他弟弟一样，对流行音乐不感兴趣。
You are no more a general than I am a scholar. 你不是将军，正如我不是学者。
He is not more my teacher than my friend. 与其说他是我的老师，倒不如说他是我的朋友。
3. no less than / not less than
no less than表示“居然有，竟然有，多达”之意，有一种惊奇的情感。相当于as many / much as； not less than表示“不少于……，至少”的意思。
Our university has no less than one million books in the library. 我们大学图书馆藏书多达一百万册。
Our university has not less than one million books in the library. 我们大学图书馆藏书至少有一百万册。
4. no less... than / not less... than
no less... than表示“和……一样，既……有，正是”； not less... than表示“至少不比……差”。
She is no less active than she used to be. 她和以前一样活跃。
Our soldiers fought with no less daring than skill. 我们的战士作战既勇敢又熟练。
The young man is no less a person than our English teacher. 这个年轻人正是我们的英语老师。
He is not less determined than you. 他的决心不比你差。
5. no + 比较级 + than / not + 比较级 + than
no + 比较级 + than表示“一样都不”的意思； not + 比较级 + than表示“不比……”，前后均为肯定，但重点往往在后者。
He is no wiser than his brother. 他和他弟弟一样笨。
He is not wiser than his brother. 他不比他弟弟聪明。
6. no better than / not better than
no better than表示“和……一样”； not better than表示“并不比……好，至多也不过是……”。
Such behavior is not better than lack of self?鄄respect. 这样的举止比不自重更甚。
The “orphans’ home” in the old society was no better than a living hell.
旧社会的“孤儿院”简直就是活地狱。
7. more than / more... than
more than表示“超过，不只是，非常，岂止”，后面可接名词、动词、形容词或从句等； more... than表示“与其说（后者），不如说（前者），不是……而是”的意思。
I love you more than I can say. 我对你的爱无法用言语表达。
What we are doing today is more than donating some money. 今天我们所做的不只是捐一些钱。
Their action was more than justified. 他们的行为是完全有理由的。
He more than hesitated to promise that. 他对于答应那件事，岂止是踌躇（简直是拒绝）。
He is more brave than wise. 他有勇无谋。
He is more of a poet than a king. 与其说他是一个国王，不如说他是一个诗人。
