When Song Hye-kyo was born, she was sick and her parents and doctor thought she would never make it. Miraculously Hye-kyo survived.

Song Hye-kyo has just finished filming her latest movie based on the real life story of a 16th century Gisaeng, Hwang Jin-i. Song Hye-kyo is learning traditional Kongfu for her part in the Hwangjini. Furthermore, she was also reported to be dieting for the role of Gisaeng (most famous singer and dancer in Joseon Dynasty). During an interview she did with KBS (Korea Broadcasting Service) about her role in the movie she said: "I'm trying my best to present everybody the most real and lively Gisaeng".

According to a recent survey on Korea's most popular website Naver.com, Song Hye-kyo enjoys the largest number of fans in Korea and other Asian countries. Apparently Song's popularity is not solely based on her appearance, but also her hard work and perseverance.
